Job summary

Timmins and District Hospital seeks a hospital porter to move instruments and medical devices to the OR and SPD, while upholding confidentiality and safety standards.

Role involves teamwork with a multidisciplinary staff, participation in education sessions, and maintaining a professional image on and off the unit. Requires Grade 12, English literacy, and mechanical inclination; bilingualism is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods and handle supplies of moderate/heavy weight.
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Compliance with vaccination guidance per Ontario health guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Porter instruments and medical devices to and from the OR and SPD.
• Maintain confidentiality of hospital and patient information.
• Ensure a safe working environment per OH&S guidelines.
• Participate in hospital/unit education/in-services.
• Maintain a professional image on/off the unit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Build and maintain relationships with department staff and other hospital employees.
