Summary

DMC is currently looking for a Surface Shop Mechanic to join our team on a fulltime permanent basis in Sudbury, ON. The Surface Shop Mechanic will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various underground mining equipment and utility vehicles.

Responsibilities

1. Perform quality maintenance work as directed by their supervisor.
2. Follow company policies and procedures.
3. Understand the operation of diagnostic equipment and measuring tools, reading and interpreting results.
4. Inspect, diagnose equipment and troubleshoot components as required (hydraulics an asset).
5. Be able to read procedures and prints as part of the diagnostic process.
6. Record all defective items on equipment and supply parts listing as per DMC procedures.
7. Must follow standard safety operating procedures.
8. Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC.
9. Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Health, Safety and Environment.
10. Have a completed personal basic trade tool inventory of a recognized quality.
11. Ensure that all direct reports in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment over which they have control including adherence to all OHS&E requirements applicable to DMC Mining Services.
12. Other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

1. Grade 12 secondary school diploma is required.
2. Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certificate/License (421A) is preferred.
3. Will consider apprentice Heavy Equipment, Truck and Coach, or Automotive Mechanics.
4. 2 to 5 years of experience.
5. Must be reliable and self-motivated with a good work ethic.
6. Must be experienced and comfortable working at heights.
7. Welding & fabrication experience is an asset.
8. Mining industry experience is an asset.
9. Must possess a valid G class driver's license.
