Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join our Operations team:

Surface Millwright

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

Reporting to the Supervisor, Plant Maintenance the successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs associated with the 8000 tpd mill, paste plant, water treatment systems, tailings, and underground equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install, align, take apart and move stationary industrial machinery, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, air compressors, jaw and cone crushers.
  • Read, understand, and interpret prints.
  • Maintain plant systems in the 8000t/d processing plant, paste plant and water treatment plant.
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective part components.
  • Enter detailed written reports on maintenance, repairs, and diagnosis into the preventative and predictive maintenance database prior to the end of each shift.
  • Provide sufficient detail about repairs so that others can understand what work has been done on the equipment.
  • Operate mobile equipment – specifically aerial work platforms and scissor lifts, tele-handlers, front end loaders as required.
  • Manage calls from operators and troubleshoot issues as they come up.
  • As required, help develop Apprentices, including delegating tasks or projects that will assist with their skill development, so the individual can provide greater support and meet apprenticeship requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Holder of Provincial Industrial Millwright Journeyman Trade Certificate License is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining a gold milling plant or in an industrial plant setting.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent oral, written and active-listening skills.
  • Highly effective organizational, time management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong safety focus.

Schedule: 4-3, 10 hours days or 5,4,4,5 rotating schedule.
