Surface Grinder Machinist (Afternoon Shift)

Shift: Afternoon Shift Available
Monday to Thursday: 4:00 pm to 2:30 am. Training to be completed on day shift, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure parts and components meet visual and dimensional requirements per process sheets or diagrams
- Mount and dress grinding wheels for manual grinders
- Perform in-process and final quality checks using micrometers, gauges, etc.
- Use various hand tools as required
- Set magnetic checks or related fixtures to hold components securely during grinding
- Verify machining dimensions against drawings
- Interpret sketches, drawings, specifications, or samples to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements
- Operate overhead crane for lifting and setting heavy pieces
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and grinding wheels
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of interpreting detailed drawings, specifications, and tolerances
- Preferred experience in a machine shop setting
- Ability to operate and maintain machining equipment ensuring high-quality standards efficiently and cost-effectively
