  • First Aid/CPR and NVCI training will be provided.
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and secure housing buildings to ensure tenant safety.
  • Support individuals through crises and with addictions.
  • Prevent unauthorized access to buildings and respond to emergencies.
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs, report irregularities, ensure doors are locked.
  • Complete shift reports and logs after each shift.
  • Empower individuals to maintain independent living in a cluster housing model.

SUPPORTED CLUSTER HOUSING - Community Resource Worker

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities.

Supported Cluster Housing (SCH) is one of the many services offered by New Directions. Cluster Housing provides independent living supports to people who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues, and who experience barriers to living independently in the community.

We are currently seeking a Community Resource Worker to join our team. Position details are as follows:

Job Responsibilities Include: (But are not limited to)

  • Monitoring and securing housing buildings to ensure the safety of all tenants
  • Supporting individuals through crisis situations, and who may be in conflict with the law and struggling with addictions.
  • Ensuring visitors do not enter the buildings
  • Responding to crisis situations and/or contacting 911 (if visitors do not leave or in case of emergency)
  • Ensuring tenants do not damage the property
  • Conducting thorough regular and exit walk throughs of the buildings, reporting anything out of the ordinary, and ensuring doors are all locked and areas are secure
  • Completing detailed reports and shift logs upon completion of every shift
  • Empowering individuals to maintain independent living situations in a cluster housing model.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in the area(s) of disability services, addictions, mental health, and related education.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is required
  • Experience working with people with mental health barriers preferred
  • Effective problem-solving ability & strong communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • First Aid/CPR and NVCI training will be provided.
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a vehicle

The salary range for thisFull-time80-hour bi-weekly position is $17.3239 to $23.3888 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which include Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan) is provided to regular full-time staff. The anticipated start date for this position is October 4th, 2026.

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract when a Driver’s License is required.

This position is a part of the UFCW Local 832 Union Collective Agreement

Operating a vehicle is an essential duty of this role. Candidates must hold a valid, active driver's license in good standing to be eligible for hire.
