Job summary

Employment North is seeking a Support Worker I for a regular part-time role in South River, Ontario. You will provide individualized supports in a residential program under supervision, helping residents with daily living activities and personal goals as defined by their Individual Service Agreement.

You will also participate in cleaning, laundry and household tasks. Shifts may include days, evenings and weekends to ensure a minimum of 47 hours every two weeks, starting at $24.20 per hour under

Qualifications

• Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in the Social Services field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum one year experience providing life skills support to persons with developmental disabilities; design, implement and evaluate programming.
• Knowledge of behavioural intervention techniques and/or Focus on Autism CPI would be an asset.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written; above-average interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized supports to residents in a residential program in South River.
• Support and motivate residents in daily living activities according to Individual Service Agreement.
• Perform cleaning, laundry and household duties as needed.

RATE OF PAY: Starting wage $24.20 hourly – as per Collective Agreement

LOCATION: South River

DESCRIPTION:

Under the direct supervision of the Adult Services Supervisor, you will provide individualized supports to the people who receive services at a residential program in South River. Working cooperatively with fellow team members, the successful applicant will: ensure and maintain a coordinated and integrated approach to services and program delivery; support/motivate/counsel people in their daily living activities, according to their needs, personal goals and Individual Service Agreement; provide a variety of cleaning, laundry & household duties as needed. Scheduled hours may include a combination of day, evening & weekend shifts, to a minimum of 47 hours in each two week period.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in the Social Services field or equivalent experience in the field.


2. Minimum one year experience providing life skills support to persons with developmental disabilities; demonstrated knowledge and skills in design, implementation and evaluation of programming to meet the support needs of people receiving services.


3. Knowledge of behavioural intervention techniques and/or Focus on Autism CPI would be an asset


4. Strong communication skills, both oral and written as well as above average interpersonal skills.


5. Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision.


6. A good punctuality and attendance record.


7. A valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license with $1,000,000 liability insurance and access to a reliable vehicle with proper endorsement for transporting individuals.


8. Current certification in First Aid and CPR would be an asset.


9. Crisis Prevention & Intervention certification would be an asset.


10. Favourable police record check


11. Able to meet physical demands of position.
