Job summary

A youth care organization in Winnipeg is seeking a full-time role responsible for providing care and guidance to youth and young adults. Job description

POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME (8 : 30 am – 8 : 30 pm or 8 : 30 pm – 8 : 30 am)

WATSONS WAY HOMES INC. is responsible to provide a safe, caring environment for youth and young adults that are in their care.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for working effectively with team members in providing all aspects of care for children / youth placed in the home, including provision for their physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs.

The successful candidate will meet the following conditions of employment :

  • Ability to provide guidance and supervision to the youth and young adults in daily activities and establish a routine. Be able to assist youth to learn required skills to transition to independent living.
  • Ability to genuinely and supportively care for youth in crisis
  • Ability to establish strong, positive working relationships with co-workers
  • Knowledge, understanding of Indigenous history and its children / families today. Aware of residential schools and its impact on families
  • Be physically capable of performing all child / youth and young adults care duties, including household tasks daily. Book appointments and ensure that the youth is taken to them
  • Provide current satisfactory background checks
  • Valid class 5 Driver’s license preferred- criminal record check, adult and child abuse, drivers abstract
  • Have current First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate or be able to complete training, in future
  • Experience in completing written work such as reports, forms and logs, using MS Word
  • Demonstrated ability to be punctual, organized, consistent and to show initiative
  • Knowledge of the CFS system and standards related to the care of children would be considered an asset
