Job summary

A community support organization in Kelowna is seeking individuals to provide physical, emotional, and social support to clients in a residential and shelter setting using a harm reduction approach. Candidates must have a relevant diploma or degree and experience in a similar field. Excellent communication skills and the ability to pass a criminal record check are essential. Do you want to assist clients to live successfully in a residential and shelter setting through a harm reduction approach? Do you want to provide physical, emotional, and social support to a diverse adult population? If so, we want to hear from you!

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • 1 x 30 hours per week, Saturday - Monday, 6am - 4pm

  • 1 x 40 hours per week, Sunday - Wednesday, 8pm - 6am

  • 1 x 40 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday, 12am - 8am

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify social, economic, recreational, and educational services in the community that meet clients' needs

  • Assist with case management

  • Recognize, analyze, and handle potential emergencies to ensure no harm comes to client and/or public

  • Oversee overdose prevention services, intervene and administer Naloxone in event of overdose

  • Participate in various client-focused activities

  • Collect rent as needed

  • Hourly observation duties

  • Administer medications to clients as needed

  • Provide life skills training

  • Assist clients to appointments, shopping, or outreach activities

  • Cleaning duties as required

  • Client note documentation as per program policy

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE
  • Diploma or degree in social, criminal justice, or behavioural sciences

  • 1-3 years work experience in similar field

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

  • Class 5 driver's licence, clean driver's abstract, and access to vehicle for work purposes

  • Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

  • Valid Basic First Aid certificate

  • Demonstrated experience using computer software such as Microsoft Office and email in a professional setting, along with a strong ability and eagerness to learn new programs and platforms
