Job summary

Interior Health Authority in Kelowna, BC is seeking a Casual Support Worker to join the Support Services Team at David Lloyd Jones Home. You will perform cleaning, clerical tasks, and meal-service duties to support residents and staff.

Shifts rotate days and evenings, with casual hours that may vary weekly. This role offers opportunities for training and benefits as part of a recognized Canadian health authority.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning duties such as sweeping, washing floors, counters, sinks, and equipment.
  • Collects waste and recycling from patient rooms and common areas.
  • Cleans floors, walls, and windows using various cleaning methods.
  • Portioning and serving meals and beverages in dining areas when required.
  • Counts, weighs or measures ingredients for food preparation areas.
  • Assembles beverages and food items for meals on wheels and dining services.
  • Setting up and delivering meal carts.
  • Cleans food service areas and reports equipment issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

About The Job
  • Cleaning duties such as sweeping and washing floors, cleaning counter tops and tables, sinks, machines and equipment and washing walls and splash areas; removes garbage as required, defrosts and cleans refrigerators, and cleans ovens.
  • Clerical duties such as answering the telephone, writing information on menu cards and checking cards against lists.
  • Collects waste and recycling from patient rooms, the nursing stations and other locations in the site and removes from building to designated holding areas.
  • Cleans areas such as floors, walls and windows by methods such as dry and wet mopping, scrubbing, sealing, waxing, buffing, polishing & vacuuming.
  • Cleans items such as furniture, contact points, ledges, vents, mirrors and equipment.
  • Reports inoperable equipment or damaged, unsafe equipment or building surfaces in accordance with established procedures.
  • Portioning and serving meals and beverages within a dining room and/or cafeteria operation.
  • Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients for assigned food preparation area.
  • Washing and peeling vegetables and fruit.
  • Assembles beverages and food items - tea, coffee, sandwiches, salads, bag lunches, items for Meals on Wheels program.
  • Setting up and delivering meal carts.
  • Cleaning of food service areas.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
This is a Casual opportunity.

Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and evenings rotating from 06:50 to 15:00 and 13:00 to 19:30 hours.
