Tendercare Living Centre is seeking a Support Services Manager to lead the Environmental Services team across our Long-Term Care and Retirement facilities in Scarborough. You will manage budgets, maintain building systems, and drive health, safety and resident satisfaction through strong leadership and hands-on mentorship.

The role requires a post-secondary degree or diploma and a track record in unionized environment management, with eligibility for PAC certification.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years' managerial/supervisor experience in support services/maintenance (unionized setting).
  • Enrolled or willing to enroll in the Property Admin Certificate (PAC) Program.
  • Knowledge of building systems including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and emergency systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Support Services department for long-term care and retirement homes.
  • Hire, train and engage a team of environmental services staff; ensure quality service.
  • Ensure Health & Safety risks to residents and staff are minimized or eliminated.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure it is serviced as required; manage capital spend and budget.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team to maximize resident satisfaction.
  • Lead with mentoring and cultivate relationships with residents, staff and vendors.

# **Support Services Manager - Tendercare Living Centre** Candidates are invited to apply for the above full-time position to work at Tendercare Living Centre, comprised of 204 Long-Term care beds, and 55 bed Retirement residences, managed by Extendicare Assist, located in Scarborough, Ontario. **Mission:** Join us as a leader to over see and manage the Support Services department in our Long Term Care and Retirement homes. With your technical expertise, you will take a proactive approach to ongoing maintenance, and optimization of building equipment. Your passion for building trusted relationships and engaging a team of support services professionals will ensure we are able to provide an optimal quality of life for all our Residents. **Key Responsibilities:** * achieving Resident & Family satisfaction and Employee engagement targets* ensuring that Health & Safety risks to Residents, employees and general public are minimized or emliminated* ensuring that installed equipment is maintained in working order or serviced as required* ensursing that capital spend and department budget are within established guidelines* Collaboration - working closely with the Executive Director and leadership team to maximize Resident satisfaction* Manage - hire, train and engage a team of environmental services staff to deliver quality service to our Residents* Comply - maintain environmental services in compliance with regulations and Extendicare policies and processes* Lend a Helping Hand - take a hands-on approach to leading, mentoring and helping environmental team members as required* Cultivate - build and maintain strong relationships with the residents, employees, managers, regional team and vendor partners* Respond with HEART - Hear, Empathize, Acknowledge, Respond & Thank **Qualifications:** * post-secondary degree or diploma in a related filed or equivalent is required* minimum two (2) years' experience in a managerial or supervisor capacity in the area of support services/maintenance in a unionized environment (preference given to previous experience in long-term care, retirement or healthcare environments)* must be enrolled or willing to enroll in the \"Property Admin Certificate (PAC) Program\"* knowledge of building systems including basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and emergency systems (Operator certification or Journeyperson considered an asset)* knowledge and experience related to evidence-based practices associated with housekeeping, laundry and maintenance with a strong ability to manage a budget and financial spend* values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion & Excellence and a passion to work with seniors* must provide complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one **What Extendicare has to offer:** At Extendicare, we believe that working as a team creates an environment that allows us to reach our potential.
