Job Profile

Under the general direction of the Manager of Client Services, the Support Services Coordinator is responsible for developing, and overseeing the Winnipeg Transit Plus eligibility process and supporting the modernization of specialized transit policies and practices with a focus on continuous improvement. This position oversees the staff responsible for determining eligibility and the additional programs that support access to the service.

This coordinator will work closely with cross-functional teams to design policies that ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards of accessible services. This position must have extensive knowledge of disabilities and functional abilities required to access transportation. This role will provide leadership in stakeholder relations, change management, procedural fairness, and regulatory analysis.

Duties

As the Support Service Coordinator, your duties will include:

  • Manages, develops, and implements the eligibility policies for specialized transit, including access to all Winnipeg Transit services, ensuring adherence to legislative requirements, best practices, and organizational goals.
  • Contract administrator providing oversight to contracted assessors, and oversight of internal administrative staff.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Change Management
  • Service Benchmarking, Process Improvement, Tracking and Reporting
  • Acts as subject matter expert and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on eligibility criteria, process and Transit Support Services.

Your Education And Qualifications Include

  • Allied health professional, with a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
  • Completion of a baccalaureate or Masters’ degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy. A minimum of five years (5) years of recent experience in the area of specialty, functional assessments, including leadership skills.
  • 5 years supervisory experience with ability to lead a team
  • 3 years experience in process/policy development and business administration.
  • 3 years experience in change management
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision and oversight to the work of Occupational/Physiotherapy Therapists.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, maintaining good working relationships across multiple internal groups and external stakeholders.
  • Organization skills with the ability to facility complex plans and manage increasing work demands.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with minimal supervision.
  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to understand, communicate, and express ideas clearly and concisely
  • Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable legislation, i.e., Human Rights Code of Manitoba, Accessibility for Manitobans Act, Manitoba Highway Traffic Act, CAN/CSA D409, and Vulnerable Persons Act, FIPPA, and PHIA.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Civic Service, Interdepartmental/Division relationships, and the operations, responsibilities, objectives, and policies of the Transit Plus Branch.is an asset
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Winnipeg Transit system as it relates to transportation and access for citizens is an asset. Would need to be able to develop knowledge within the first six months.
  • Proficiency with software applications including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Power Apps), Adobe Acrobat, survey applications, and data and statistical analysis tools.
  • Proficiency with software applications utilized e.g., Spare, Genesys, Reactor, Power Apps) is an asset, must be able to learn systems within first six months.
  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada.   • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Legally qualified to practice in Manitoba by: Registration and good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists in Manitoba.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license, in good standing.
