Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

Position Details:

  • Hours: 20 hours per week for each post
  • Shift Pattern 1: Mon-Fri 0800-1200
  • Shift Pattern 2: Mon-Fri 1200-1600
  • This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) cannot provide Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS).

Working as part of the Catering Team, you will assist in food preparation, service, wash-up, and cleaning duties related to catering services for patients, staff, visitors, and functions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all aspects of kitchen cleaning are completed according to work schedules
  • Clean and wash all catering equipment, machinery, and crockery
  • Assist in food preparation and service
  • Receive, store, and manage supplies
  • Remove and dispose of waste appropriately
  • Report faults to your supervisor
  • Maintain high standards of personal and food hygiene
  • Deliver dining services to patients, staff, visitors, and functions, including menu collation at ward level
  • Handle cash transactions responsibly
  • Operate equipment only as instructed
  • Work safely and considerately around others
  • Follow all statutory and divisional procedures

Please note that the salary is pro-rata for part-time hours.

Good communication skills are essential as the role involves significant contact with patients. Training, including a 3-day induction, will be provided prior to starting.
