JOB PURPOSE

The York School is looking for Supply Teachers for the 2025 / 2026 Academic Year to advance the curriculum and learning in the classroom in the absence of the classroom Teacher. When possible, coverage assignments are made in advance, however, Supply Teachers may also receive requests for same-day coverage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all regular teaching duties to advance the curriculum left by the classroom Teacher

Set a proper example, at all times, for students and other community members

Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate

Completes a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom teacher at the end of each class or teaching period

Understand and adhere to school policies and procedures, including emergency procedures

Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

B.Ed. and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers

Training and experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework considered an asset

Proven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Strong ability to engage collaboratively with students, parents, and staff, prioritizing a service-oriented approach by ensuring professionalism, respect, and responsiveness in all interactions

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Proficiency in navigating a technologically rich school environment, with expertise in Google Workspace considered an asset
