Primary Responsibilities
The main responsibility of the Supply Planner is to purchase items and materials using best practices and systems to determine when and what to order to meet sales, volume and inventory turns/dollars objectives, as well as keeping aligned with margin goals.
In short, to ensure we have the right product at the right time, at the right quantities with the right best before dates in the right location to support our customers.
The Supply Planner coordinates logistics for inbound deliveries globally including Canada, the US and Europe. The goal is taken into account to procure the items at the lowest landed net cost, taking into account all logistical opportunities to reduce costs and enhance system-wide efficiencies.

Essential Functions
- Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
- Purchase items and materials using best practices and systems to meet sales, volume and inventory objectives.
- Inventory Management: Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent stockouts and overstock situations or spoilage. Implement inventory control policies and procedures.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement and delivery of materials and products.
- Order Management: Oversee the ordering process, ensuring that supplier orders are processed and delivered on time.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze supply chain data and generate reports and present findings to management.
- Risk Management: Anticipate potential disruptions in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Evaluate product availability, determine the most cost-effective replenishment path.
- Manage supply forecasts and monitor the movement of specific product lines.
- Manage processes and inventories to ensure the consistent and timely purchase of products.
- Place orders, arrange for shipping and follow the process to delivery.
- Proactively analyze and manage vendor/item parameters.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external suppliers.
- Written and verbal communication with team members, vendors, and customers.
- Work collaboratively to support all other areas of the business to meet the service objective of Quality and Service Excellence to exceed customer expectations.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
- Extensive container shipping experience, not limited to Ocean, Air, Rail, and Road.
- Comprehensive experience working with forwarders, ocean shipping lines, and airlines.
- Experience with regulatory affairs (CFIA, FIN report) preferred. Customs clearance experience. Previous experience with CBSA preferred.
- Understand terms and conditions pertaining to logistics.
- Previous experience with Supply Chain Finance (Bank drafts and L.C).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in purchasing and inventory management.
- Enrollment in or completion of SCMP or related course would be an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Excel required, with knowledge of other MS Office tools.
- SAP experience is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, superior organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, ability to get along with diverse personalities and develop strong business relationships with vendors and associates; tactful, mature, and flexible. Must have good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
- High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects with day-to-day activities.
- Ability to establish credibility and be decisive but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
