Overview

Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.

With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social, and economic best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Supervisor, Supply Chain to support our In-Hospital Logistics team. This position would require the individual to be onsite five days per week, with travel between Perth & Smith Falls Hospital and Brockville General.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, the Supervisor, Supply Chain is accountable for daily oversight of the Logistics department and related functions as well as supervision of in-hospital personnel at their assigned hospital(s). This individual collaborates with MMC and hospital leaders, ensuring performance expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Management

  • Daily oversight of all supply chain functions related to the site (Logistics, Shipping/Receiving, Warehousing, Distribution, and Purchasing)
  • Daily execution of Just-In-Time (Stockless) supply chain and hospital relationship with the 3PL provider.
  • Ensures all supply chain strategies and operations are aligned with the MMC and hospital values.
  • Builds a strong relationship with Hospital stakeholders to ensure MMC alignment with the hospital initiatives.
  • Daily monitoring and continuous improvement of all KPI's
  • Manages daily backorders and escalates critical issues to Manager / Director and clinical staff.
  • Planning and execution of annual Par-Review of JIT department supply carts
  • Regular checks and balances to ensure inventory systems are kept up to date and a high level of accuracy is achieved.
  • Execute in conjunction with hospital staff, the cycle counting and year-end inventory process
  • Ensure rotation and adequate depletion of pandemic supply, flagging risks to manager and or hospital director.
  • Coordinates and participates in hospital on-call schedule.

Human Resources Management

  • Complies with all MMC and Hospital Human Resources protocols and all regulatory bodies requirements, the Collective Agreement and accrediting agencies.
  • Recruits, coaches, mentors, evaluates, and manages the performance and development of staff.
  • Participates in discipline and labour management activities.
  • Administers hospital payroll and related procedures.

Leadership and Managerial

  • Demonstrates and promotes MMC and Hospital culture, values and management philosophy.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with customers and employees.
  • Coaches/mentors the in-hospital teams (Storekeepers, Shipper/Receivers, Controllers and Buyers).
  • Sets high standards of excellence, leading by example, clarifying roles and responsibilities, providing clear directions and priorities, monitoring and celebrating progress and achievement.

Financial

  • Manage operations budget and inventory of $100k-$1M+

Customer Satisfaction

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with hospital department managers, hospital leadership, patients, contractors, suppliers and the community to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Fosters a “Customer-Centric” culture within the department

Health and Safety

  • Performs his/her job according to safe work practices, following instructions and using the equipment provided.
  • Actively participates in the hospital Health and Safety Program by undergoing safety training/education.
  • Ensures all required equipment and protective devices are used in the prescribed manner.
  • Ensures that all incidents/accidents/hazardous conditions are investigated promptly, the reports are completed on time and submitted as required, and corrective actions are taken.

Education, Training, and Experience

Mandatory

  • Post secondary degree in business or supply chain related field
  • 4-6 years supervisory experience in a supply chain related field (Hospital, Warehousing, CPG)

Preferred

  • NISCL, SCMP, P.Log or other supply chain certification.
  • Experience supervising in a union environment and familiarity with collective bargaining
  • 1-3 years’ experience implementing operational changes, continuous improvement or LEAN processes
  • 1-3 years’ experience with materials management or supply chain software (Meditech, SAP, Allscripts, or other)

Travel

  • Ability to travel to Perth & Smith Falls Hospital and Brockville General
  • Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
