Job summary

Capital Power Corporation in Edmonton seeks a motivated Supply Chain Student Intern to join our Supply Chain Management team. This role offers hands-on experience in purchasing, inventory management, contract administration, supplier engagement, and data analysis across multiple business units.

You will work with Supply Chain professionals, gain exposure to end-to-end procurement activities, and contribute to process improvements while maintaining records and supporting ERP-based workflows.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program related to supply chain management or operations.
• Proficiency with Excel; Power BI and data analytics are assets.
• Exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Infor is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support purchasing and sourcing activities with supplier communications and documentation.
• Administer purchase requisitions and purchase orders in ERP systems.
• Maintain inventory records and assist with reporting and analysis.
• Support contract administration and document management.
• Prepare spend and procurement data analyses using Excel and Power BI.

Your Opportunity One Temporary Full-Time Position Commencing May 2027

Capital Power is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Supply Chain Student Intern to join our Supply Chain Management team. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in purchasing, inventory management, contract administration, supplier engagement, and process improvement while supporting a variety of business units across the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with Supply Chain professionals and contribute to initiatives that help ensure the efficient procurement of goods and services that support Capital Power's operations. This role is aligned with support provided across Purchasing, Inventory, Contracts, Facilities, and Travel & Expense functions.

What You'll Do:

• Support purchasing and sourcing activities, including supplier communications, quote requests, and documentation.
• Assist with purchase requisition and purchase order administration within ERP systems.
• Help maintain inventory records and support inventory analysis and reporting.
• Support contract administration activities and document management.
• Prepare and analyze spend, supplier, and procurement data using Excel and Power BI.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives and workflow documentation.
• Participate in supplier research and market analysis activities.
• Support Supply Chain projects and operational initiatives as required.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve purchasing and supply chain inquiries.
• Assist with maintaining records and ensuring compliance with company procurement processes and policies.

What You'll Bring:

• Education Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program in: Supply Chain Management Business Administration Procurement Logistics Operations Management Commerce Or a related discipline
• Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Power BI, data analytics, or reporting tools is considered an asset.
• Exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Infor, or similar platforms is an asset.
• Professional Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
