Job description

The Supply Chain Specialist is a systems-focused, process-driven role committed to building resilient, scalable operations that support production efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, cross-functional contributor who brings a continuous improvement mindset to supply chain workflows, ensuring the right materials are in the right place at the right time, and that internal systems evolve with operational needs.

With experience in inventory planning, supplier coordination, material logistics, and ERP systems, you will play a key role in clearing bottlenecks, preventing delays, and enabling our technical teams to execute. The best match for this position is someone who thrives in free flowing environments while always looking for ways to improve them, driven by a desire to build structure and strong systems, not just move parts.

The Mission Of This Role Is

“Ensure every component flows smoothly through AML’s operations by improving how we track, manage, and move materials every day.”

Why AML?

At AML, we’re always on the hunt for passionate team players who want to make a difference. AMLers commit their hands, their heads, and their hearts to their position. There are no sidelines. This is not corporate marketing: Glassdoor ratings score AML at 4.70 on 5.00. Our eNPS numbers are equally impressive, with a +62 response to the question: “Do you enjoy working at AML?”

AMLers cite five main reasons as to why they choose us: our culture, the people, our growth trajectory, transparency and workplace flexibility. Interested? Then you’ll want to know more about what we do. AML designs and manufactures ocean-sensing solutions – sensors, instrumentation, and deployment systems – for customers on all seven continents. We have a market reputation for going to the ends of the earth to make our customers successful, enabling them to focus on oceanography, not the equipment.

As a hi-tech manufacturing business, our technical team includes experts and engineers with experience in the acoustic, mechanical, electrical, software and embedded software domains. We operate from locations at either end of Canada.

What You’ll Do

  • Map & Improve Material Flow: Analyze how materials - from small parts to large assemblies- move through AML’s supply chain, inventory, and production. Identify bottlenecks and implement scalable improvements.
  • Build Quality-First Systems: Help formalize and maintain reliable processes around procurement, receiving, kitting, quality control, and stock management. Contribute to SOPs that improve accuracy, traceability, and repeatability.
  • Support Procurement & Subcontracting: Assist with vendor communication, lead time tracking, and delivery schedules. Coordinate logistics and documentation for externally manufactured components.
  • Streamline Inventory Planning: Monitor part usage, stock levels, and reorder triggers. Support physical inventory and cycle counting programs to maintain system accuracy.
  • Maintain & Improve ERP Data: Keep materials, supplier, and order records clean and current. Use ERP insights to guide inventory decisions and detect potential issues before they become problems.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Act as a connector between warehouse, production, purchasing, and engineering, ensuring everyone has the information and materials they need to succeed.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Use a continuous improvement lens to suggest and implement changes that make our supply chain more efficient, resilient, and easy to manage.

Accountabilities

  • Reliable Material Availability: Ensure key components are ordered, received, and staged correctly to support AML’s production and shipping schedule.
  • Process Integrity: Implement and support operational processes that are clearly defined, documented, and repeatable, reducing guesswork and increasing accountability.
  • Data Accuracy: Maintain clean and trustworthy ERP records related to suppliers, parts, POs, and inventory movement.
  • Operational Efficiency: Contribute to cost reduction, lead time improvement, and improved inventory accuracy through proactive supply chain improvements.

Competencies

  • Material Flow Understanding: Ability to analyze and visualize how parts move across vendors, warehouses, and production to identify blockers or opportunities for streamlining, specifically in a manufacturing environment.
  • ERP & Inventory Systems: Experience using ERP/MRP tools to track stock, manage part data, and support operational decisions.
  • Problem Solving & Process Thinking: Strong eye for inefficiencies and opportunities to reduce waste, eliminate errors, and improve system performance.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Comfortable working with technical and non-technical stakeholders across departments. Clear, proactive communicator.
  • Vendor & Logistics Coordination: Experience managing supplier timelines, documentation, and issue resolution to keep materials moving as planned.
  • EQ / Emotional Intelligence: Ability to use and manage emotions in ways to communicate effectively, overcome challenges, and navigate conflict. Can assess this ability in others.

Company culture is paramount and we’re looking for like-minded individuals to join our team.
