Job summary

MDS Aero Support Corporation in Ottawa is seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator to join our team. You will work with suppliers, engineering, project management, manufacturing and quality teams to drive successful project outcomes, from purchase orders through delivery.

The role emphasizes building relationships, problem solving, and traveling internationally when required. Candidates should have a mechanical engineering background, 4–7 years of relevant experience, and legal authorization to work

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in mechanical engineering (preferred).
• 4–7 years of relevant technical experience.
• Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents per security regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interface with Project Management and Engineering to clarify requirements and schedules.
• Interface with suppliers to monitor progress and track deliverables.
• Visit the plant for in-process inspection and progression checks against the schedule.
• Ensure deliveries comply with Purchase Orders, drawings, specifications and terms.
• Receive and distribute documentation; provide feedback to suppliers.
• Report supplier inspection activities and manage Non-Conformance Reports.
• Foster relationships with suppliers and develop solutions across disciplines.
• Prepare and distribute progress reports on supplier activity.

We are currently looking for a Supply chain coordinator to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

The Purchasing team is the hub for all MDS procurement and supplier management activities. The Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible for managing MDS orders through to final delivery.

This role includes monitoring and tracking supplier progress for equipment that requires a supplier to either build-to-print using MDS engineered drawings, typically involving mechanical fabrication, machining, and assembly, or to design and build in accordance with an MDS Procurement Specification.

Specific Departmental or Project Duties

• Interface with Project Management/ Engineering to clarify and understand the requirements and schedule for custom equipment/documentation deliverables defined under MDS Purchase Orders and in MDS Procurement Specifications and Engineering Drawings.
• Interface with MDS Suppliers to monitor progress and track deliverables.
• Plant visits for in-process inspection and to monitor fabrication progression with respect to the schedule are an important part of the role
• Ensure products are delivered in compliance with the Purchase Order, which includes compliance to drawings, specifications, assembly and testing and terms and conditions.
• Receive documentation deliverables (drawings, calculations, procedures, manuals, certificates etc.). Distribute documents for internal review and action, and provide feedback and updates to the supplier.
• Report on supplier inspection activities and manage Non-Conformance Reports.
• Responsible to foster and develop relationships with MDS suppliers and develop solutions to supplier issues in conjunction with other disciplines.
• Prepare and distribute reports on the progress of the supplier activity.

Education and Qualifications

• Minimum Degree or Diploma from recognized university or college, preferably Mechanical Engineering focused.
• 4-7 years relevant technical experience.
• Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents to meet the requirements of the Controlled Goods Program and other applicable government security clearance regulations.

Skills

• Understanding fabrication practices and assembly methods is an asset.
• Creative problem solving, communication and interpersonal relations skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Project is an asset.
• Experience in working in diverse teams of in-house personnel and/or with outside subcontractors on multi-discipline design projects.
• Willing and able to travel internationally when required.
• Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
