Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible for placing the right steel raw materials in the right place at the right time at the lowest possible cost. This role will acquire products via purchase orders with key suppliers, coordinate the movement of goods and complete stock transfers from site to site in a cost-effective manner. This position is vital to the Vicwest Supply Chain and its overall operations.

Key Accountabilities

  2. Supplier and Vendor Coordination
  3. Customer Service (internal stakeholders)
Major Responsibilities

  1. Accurately create purchase orders to release and replenish steel coil to Vicwest manufacturing sites (3R’s).
  2. Meet or exceed monthly steel shipment targets, including inventory prebuild quantities for peak season preparation.
  3. Tracks, gathers and submits western rebate savings opportunities to Vendors based on coil replenishment path.
  4. Contributes to accurate inventory by accurately receiving coil and conducting regular reconciliations of coil inventory.
  5. Coordinate coil movements with pre-approved carriers and 3rd party warehouses to achieve on time delivery.
  6. Investigates and verifies Purchase Order and Invoice variances including inventory discrepancies.
  7. Provide exceptional customer service by effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Oversees colour sample matching requests and in house inventories.
  9. Participates in physical inventory count process.
  10. Complete other continuous improvement initiatives as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
  11. Demonstrates core values to contribute to overall team success.
Qualifications

  1. 1-2 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain, preferably in the Building Products industry.
  2. Strong computer skills (Excel – intermediate, MS Office applications)
  3. 1-2 years of experience or exposure to ERP/EDI systems, preferably SAP.
  4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational abilities.
  5. Robust analytical skills, coupled with the ability to act with a sense of urgency.
  6. Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating unwavering diligence for one’s work.
  7. Eager and passionate about participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  8. Bilingual proficiency in French and English is advantageous.
  9. Must have own mode of transportation.
