Job description

Job Description:

The employee must be willing and able to learn the operation of forklift trucks. The incumbent will learn how to unload bales of waste paper from trucks and railroad cars and how to stack waste paper in the warehouse in an organized manner. They will also learn how to load rolls of paper onto trucks and railcars and how to properly place or stack rolls of paper in the finished paper warehouse. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness in the warehouses will be part of the responsibilities.

Job Procedures and Requirements:

  1. Must know and follow all plant and department safety rules, including all job safety analysis (JSA's).
  2. Must demonstrate the ability to properly follow lock-out and operating procedures as outlined in the Plants Operating Manual and JSA's.
  3. Must report any unsafe conditions or defective equipment to your Supervisor immediately.
  4. Must report any accidents immediately to your Supervisor.
  5. Must keep assigned areas and all work-related items clean and orderly at all times.
  6. Must maintain satisfactory housekeeping at the workstation.
  7. Must be able to read, write, use a computer, and read a tape measure.
  8. Must learn to safely operate the Plants Fork Lifts and Clamp Truck as a licensed mobile equipment operator; a valid driver's license is required.
  9. Must perform other duties as instructed by the Loading/Unloading Supervisor and the Supply Chain Manager.

Essential Requirements:

  1. Ability to safely handle and dispose of broken bands and bale wires, and cut wires protruding from bales of waste paper.
  2. Ability to clean and sweep the warehouse and docks.
  3. Willingness to learn basic driving skills for Forklift and Clamp Truck.
  4. Assist in entering paper roll and waste paper data into computers.
  5. Assist in loading and unloading trucks and railcars.
  6. Learn the various grades of Waste Paper and Finished Rolls of Paper.
  7. Learn about various contaminants in Waste Paper.
  8. Availability to work 2nd shift.
  9. No significant performance or attendance infractions within the last 36 months.
