Reporting to the Supplier Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible to support the development and maintenance of relationships with suppliers, including the verification of appropriate quality measures and the resolution of non-conformances.

Your responsibilities in the role:

  • Conduct First Article Inspection Planning.
  • Conduct/participate in supplier audits per the audit schedule (include product/process, capability, planning, part/component certifications, inspections).
  • Identify priorities, schedule and ensure completion of internal audits to meet relevant regulations, standards and compliance to the QMS.
  • Collate and distribute KPI data per pre-determined escalation points.
  • Use KPI trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Schedule and conduct Supplier Audits.
  • Manage supplier product Non-Conformity Handling.
  • Ensure compliance to processes, procedures, policies, and work instructions as part of the QMS.
  • Review and accept Supplier Quality Plans, ensuring they meet contractual conditions.
  • Participate in the development and refinement of Design and Process FMEA’s (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Schedule, conduct and manage supplier audits.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractor representatives to ensure that all deliverables meet the approved specification and resolve issues.
  • Establish and maintain a Supplier Monitoring program based on a business risk assessment approach.
  • Manage supplier non-conformity handling (includes RMA).
  • Train quality team and stakeholders on the QMS, processes, and other quality related items.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supplier Quality Manager.

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Post secondary education in a related field, or equivalent experience/knowledge gained through other forms of education or training.
  • Experience working in a ISO900/14001 certified manufacturing facility or company.
  • Proven experience in a quality assurance role.
  • Ability to travel is essential.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, superior organizational abilities, and excellent computer skills.
  • Proven experience as Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality standards and testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles including 5S, Kanban and SMED.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, Assembly diagrams.
  • Knowledge of quality inspection principles.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems; knowledge of IFS is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
