Job Summary

Archway Urban Farm is a not-for-profit teaching farm seeking a Supervisor, Urban Farm, to oversee staff, volunteers, and crop production. The role involves managing crops grown in various settings, ensuring quality and variety for sales and community needs. The work is physically demanding, requiring walking, bending, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repetitive tasks. Attention to detail, organization, and management skills are essential for overseeing farm operations, budgeting, staff schedules, and educational workshops.

Your Role:

As Supervisor, your responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership, support, and supervision to staff and volunteers, including coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Delegating tasks to ensure crop production and safety.
  • Managing hiring processes for staff and volunteers.
  • Conducting regular staff meetings.
  • Directing crop production activities such as seeding, transplanting, watering, weeding, and harvesting.
  • Developing seeding schedules and managing crop rotations.
  • Monitoring greenhouse and Ag-Tech environments.
  • Overseeing community education events, on-site tours, workshops, and produce sales.
  • Maintaining accurate information on the website and collaborating with marketing for promotional materials.

This position suits someone with crop management experience, strong supervisory skills, and program management abilities.

Our Offer:

  • Wage: $26.50 per hour
  • Part-time, permanent position, 30 hours/week, Monday to Saturday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors.
  • Availability for evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, First Aid, Food Safe certification, and satisfactory health and background checks.
