Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining proper security at the facility. Acts as a liaison between Woodbine Entertainment Security and other departments. Supervises building protection and security, safeguards funds, and manages schedules, work details, and payrolls.

Key Responsibilities

Management Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instructs employees regarding work methods, duties, and procedures.
  • Adjusts workloads and procedures to accommodate personnel and work quality changes.
  • Schedules leaves and deployment of employees.

Supervisory and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Reviews employee work and maintains performance logs.
  • Conducts disciplinary reviews and initiates responses, including suspensions.
  • Reviews reports for thoroughness and accuracy before signing off.
  • Monitors access control and ensures proper clearance for employees.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations.
  • Supervises protection and transportation of funds within the facility.
  • Assists with policy development and implementation.
  • Attends monthly health and safety meetings.
  • Prepares payrolls, budget reports, and HR documents.
  • Assists with safety inspections of dormitories and barns.
  • Participates in employee training programs.
  • Ensures only authorized persons access the facility.
  • Maintains personnel lists for the stable area.
  • Enforces all racing rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Supervises the application of physical force or restraints when necessary.

Coordination Responsibilities

  • Assists law enforcement with investigations.
  • Participates in and assists at special events.
  • Performs other duties as required by conditions or situations.

Job Specifications

Knowledge

  • Investigative procedures, laws, and regulations (Federal, Provincial, Municipal, AGCO, Woodbine rules).

Skills

  • Proficiency with PC networks and related software.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in law, security, or law enforcement, or equivalent experience.
  • Background in policing or 3+ years in security or loss prevention.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment with minimal physical discomfort.
  • Moderate to high stress dealing with teams, suppliers, deadlines, and customers.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Occasional physical activity (bending, lifting, reaching).
  • Valid G license and vehicle required for travel within Ontario.
