The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) provides essential support for individuals that are not able to make personal or financial decisions. It offers guardianship and trusteeship services, administers estates, and manages benefits. OPGT also oversees capacity assessments, investigates complaints regarding decision-makers, and provides guidance on advance planning and personal directives. Reporting to the Public Guardian (PG), the Supervisor, Program Administration plays a key role in leading administrative teams, improving program operations, and ensuring compliance with legislation governing the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee. This includes adherence to the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act (AGTA), Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Regulations (AGTR), Personal Directives Act (PDA), and Mental Health Act.
The position involves developing, implementing, and improving branch policies and procedures to ensure that administrative service delivery meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
