Job summary

Tempur Sealy is seeking a Production Supervisor at the Toronto Plant to lead daily manufacturing operations and a unionized team. You will manage staffing, scheduling, attendance, and performance, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met while applying continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires minimum three years supervisory experience in manufacturing, a university or college degree, strong leadership and communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a unionized operation.
  • A university degree or college diploma in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to deliver results through people.
  • Good computer skills, including working knowledge of factory systems and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in a just-in-time environment and the ability to respond proactively to changing demands with short notice.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methods is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage the day-to-day workforce, including staffing and work assignments, scheduling, attendance, employee conduct, performance, and the consistent application of workplace policies and the collective agreement.
  • Lead and coordinate activities within the production area to meet safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost targets.
  • Ensure work is performed safely, hazards are identified and controlled, and employees use all required personal protective equipment.
  • Promote a positive labour-management relationship through coaching, communication, teamwork, and employee involvement.
  • Coordinate with other departments to maximise the overall effectiveness and efficiency of production operations.
  • Plan proactively and adjust to changing priorities or unforeseen situations while meeting operational requirements.
