  • Compensation: 117K Basewith potential increases every three months.
  • Please note, this role will be Hybrid at the client’s Whitby, ON office (4 times a week).
  • Permanent Opportunity+ Vacation time + Golden Standard Benefits for the employee and their spouse.
  • Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee payroll processes in coordination with the finance department.
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements, employment contracts, and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain payroll policies aligned with employment standards, tax laws, privacy regulations, and insurance requirements.
  • Accurately process special payments, including taxable benefits.
  • Supervise and mentor the payroll team, providing guidance on complex issues.
  • Assist with payroll budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Review and approve complex payroll transactions (e.g., final payments, severance, salary continuance).
  • Develop and enhance payroll business practices, user guides, and training materials.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for payroll systems (e.g., PeopleSoft HCM, Time & Labour).
  • Manage user security approvals for payroll-related systems.
  • Design and deliver payroll training programs (quarterly, ad-hoc, and virtual self-service options).
  • Serve as the OMERS administrator, ensuring pension compliance.
  • Oversee payroll reporting (e.g., Statistics Canada, MBN Canada, ad-hoc reports).
  • Conduct payroll audits for compliance and legal support.
  • Lead payroll-related projects, including system upgrades and process improvements.
  • Perform other assigned duties and projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Business or Accounting.
  • Must be Certified Payroll Manager Designation.
  • Must have over 5 years of full cycle Canadian payroll.
  • Supervisory experience managing a team of5(clerks and specialists).
  • Must be comfortable with Payrollsize of1,500-1,800 including Union (collective bargaining agreements) experience.
  • Stronganalyticalandproblem-solving skills.
  • Quick learner, able to pick up new systems fast.
  • PeopleSoftexperience is aplus but not required.
