Overview of the role:

You'll discover a stimulating atmosphere that fosters your professional growth in a clean and safe environment. Reporting to the Manager, Packaging, this position is responsible for leading and directing the Packaging Department to package quality cheese products in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The position reports to the Packaging Manager.

Schedule:

Rotating - must be available for days, nights, and weekends

Salary:

$78,170 - $117,260

Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate packaging requirements into daily work schedules and direct staff in various departments in compliance with GMP and SOP requirements.
  • Liaise with other internal departments (Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Quality Assurance) to resolve packaging-related issues.
  • Perform annual performance evaluations, monitor attendance, and address performance issues.
  • Promote safety programs and policies to reduce accidents and injuries, including safety training and enforcement.
  • Foster a team-based work environment emphasizing continuous improvement, department performance, and personal achievement.
  • Achieve KPI targets related to safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and health and safety.
  • Maximize profitability through efficient use of raw materials, labor, and overhead cost control.
  • Ensure the packaging of quality products while maintaining a safe and motivated workforce.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to supervisors and plant staff, fostering positive communication.
  • Maintain a positive employee environment through consistent practices in employee development, safety, and training.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and sanitation standards, participating in HACCP programs.
  • Schedule production and staffing to meet packaging deadlines.
  • Use operational data to monitor trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform annual performance reviews and manage attendance and performance issues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Management, Food Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in food manufacturing or packaging, preferably dairy.
  • Proven leadership skills in coaching, motivating, and developing teams in a hands-on environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional attitude.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
