Job summary

First Student is hiring an Operations Supervisor on a 12 Month contract to oversee day-to-day bus operations, scheduling maintenance and fueling, and supporting a dynamic transportation team.

You will supervise staff, coordinate field trips, ensure driver paperwork is in order, and promote a safe work environment across locations. Strong communication and organization skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience in transportation industry.
• Strong supervisory skills and ability to manage staff.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Good interpersonal skills and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and promotes a safe work environment at all times.
• Ensures drivers have daily paperwork for routes and that charter paperwork is received by the Location Manager for processing.
• Coordinates field trips by assigning personnel and vehicles.
• Under Location Manager's direction, assists drivers with route descriptions.
• Monitors that drivers follow through with fueling and mechanical work.
• Observes safety practices and takes corrective action when necessary.
• Assists Location Manager during training sessions and kickoff meetings.
• Attends disciplinary meetings with Location Manager.
• May interact with school officials at smaller bus locations.
• May drive bus on occasion if necessary.
• Assists dispatcher when necessary.
• May manage small locations under the Location Manager's direction.
• Ensures routes meet state, local, and vendor requirements.
• Reviews timesheets prior to payroll submission.
