JOB TITLE MANAGER OF COAR (COMMUNITY OUTREACH ADVOCACY RESOURCE)

NATIONAL OCCUPATION CODE 40030

POSITION TYPE TERM (1 YEAR)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to COAR Team Members.
  • Assist the COAR Manager in developing and instituting Case Management policies and procedures.
  • Assist the COAR Manager in conducting annual performance reviews of COAR Team Members.
  • Incorporate a supportive and positive teamwork mindset in execution of work for COAR Team Members.
  • Represent the DCSP on committees with external partners and stakeholders, as assigned.
  • Represent the COAR Team in internal DCSP meetings as required.
  • Conduct weekly case management meetings with COAR Team Members.
  • Submit a regular report to the COAR Manager regarding operational and staff issues and program metrics.
  • Oversee Payworks profiles for COAR Team Members.
  • Create case files and facilitate appropriate assignment of participants to COAR Team Members.
  • Assist the COAR Manager in identifying operational requirements on an annual basis.
  • Assist the COAR Manager in ensuring statistics are accurately compiled by staff and submitted on a timely basis.
  • Oversee a reasonable caseload of DCSP participants. A reasonable caseload will be determined jointly by the COAR Supervisor and COAR Manager.
  • Documenting and reporting all staff related personnel issues to the COAR Manager.
  • Assist with HR functions as they pertain to recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding for DCSP.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by the Manager of COAR and / or the Director of Operations as required.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Post-secondary educational background in Social Services or related discipline an asset; a combination of education and experience is also considered.
  • Experience in Crisis Counseling and Outreach is considered an asset.
  • Proven experience with direct engagement with the vulnerable sector.
  • Proven experience in Case Management.
  • Knowledge and understanding about harm reduction frameworks.
  • A desire and passion to work with a multi-barrier and underserved population.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team building, problem solving, advocacy, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of issues related to mental health / care systems and needs.
  • Knowledge of community development and outreach.
  • Understand the importance of trauma-informed and culturally appropriate bases for care.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to use sound judgment while working under demanding conditions and circumstances.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledgeable with Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to perform physical duties (including but not limited to standing and being on foot for a period of time; routinely lifting, carrying and moving materials up to 15 lbs)
  • Certification in First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, and / or NVCI is an asset.
  • Must be available to work days.
  • This role is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable
  • Sector Search, and a Child Abuse Registry Check, to be produced prior to commencing employment.
