Job summary

Ivaco Rolling Mills in l’Orignal, Ontario, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team and ensure safe, efficient plant operations. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager Melt Shop, you will supervise roughly 20 technicians and drive equipment reliability and safety programs.

The role requires a mechanical/industrial engineering background, strong safety focus, and experience with CMMS; bilingual English/French is preferred.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or industrial engineer with heavy industry experience.
• Industrial setting/manufacturing mill experience is a strong asset.
• Experience with CMMS system.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Bilingual English and French preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe work practices and procedures.
• Lead the Company Health and Safety program and train all employees.
• Performs safety audits and ensures training completion.
• Oversee a team of about 20 people and update training materials.
• Implements training programs and develops department personnel.
• Informs subordinates of performance expectations and provides coaching.
• Interviews, reviews qualifications, and selects candidates.
• Ensures regulatory and company policy compliance; applies corrective measures.
• Defines Department Quality Standards and ISO procedures.

Ivaco Rolling Mills is looking for a Mechanical maintenance Supervisor to join the Team!

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager Melt Shop, as a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you supervise and direct the maintenance team to ensure mechanical equipment maintenance at the Plant in order to meet safety, quality, efficiency, cost and service objectives.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe work practices and procedures.
• Responsible for the application and formulation of the Company’s Health and Safety program and ensuring all employees have an opportunity to learn elements of the safety program.
• Performs safety audit.
• Ensures that all employees are trained in job requirements before permanent assignment. A team of around 20 people.
• Searches for new material to update training for all employees.
• Ensures implementation of Company training programs and development of department’s personnel.
• Informs subordinators of performance expectations.
• Monitors and evaluates performance and coaches, as necessary.
• Interviews, reviews qualifications, selects and recommends employment candidates.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and Company policies. Ensures the usage of corrective measures/discipline on violations.
• Defines Department Quality Standards and ensures all employees are aware of standards and new requirements.
• Ensures ISO procedures are current and adhered to for the department.

Specific Responsibilities

• Observe all safety rules.
• Determines the repairs required, using reports and schedules, determines work schedules, plans shutdown and repairs.
• Reports and investigates all accidents with an aim to prevent reoccurrence.
• Conducts monthly safety meetings and makes safety observations.
• Ensures that each employee is trained in their job. Complete training checklists as soon as training is completed.
• Informs employees of expectations.
• Assigns tasks, communicates work schedule and deadlines, set, and defines priority, reports on delays. Initiates preventive/corrective actions to meet deadlines.
• In coordination with his supervisor attempts to settle concerns/interpretation disputes at his own level and applies provisions of the Collective agreements.
• Completes daily shift reports.
• Ensures timekeeping is approved on a weekly basis.

Skills And Requirements

• Mechanical or industrial engineer with relevant experience in heavy industry ** preferred
• Previous experience working in an industrial setting/ manufacturing mill would be considered a strong asset
• Experience with CMMS system
• Intermediates excel skills
• Bilingual: English and French ** preferred
