PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Supervisor provides planning, scheduling, and resource assignment for specific jobs within the shop and yard, ensuring all repairs and servicing are performed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate fosters a safety-focused culture, communicates effectively, and drives accountability.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Lead a unionized team in maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs on locomotives, mobile equipment, and vehicles used in plant, yard, and road service.
  2. Ensure repairs and train servicing comply with standards set by the Association of American Railroads, Transport Canada, and CPKC policies.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external partners to improve fluidity and achieve the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan.
  4. Provide leadership accountability for safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics.
  5. Lead safety compliance within the terminal, implement corrective actions as needed, and promote a safety culture through discussions and engagement.
  6. Conduct briefings to ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and communicated to the next Supervisor on shift.
  7. Mentor and coach team members through active observation and feedback.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment preferred.
  • Availability to work all shift types, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to analyze, understand root causes, and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong focus, attention to detail, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other materials in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
