We are seeking a Facilities Supervisor to join our Maintenance Department in Richmond. This newly created role offers an opportunity to significantly impact maintaining and enhancing our facilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Facilities Supervisor, you’ll oversee, manage, and ensure the safety of our facility assets, including buildings, marine structures, and utilities. Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll strategize and execute maintenance plans, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilities Maintenance Management (60%)

  • Develop and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs with KPSs.
  • Manage contractors and consultants for scopes of work, compliance, and execution.
  • Assist in engineering studies, facilities-related projects, and project coordination.

Day-to-Day Maintenance Operations (20%)

  • Manage unionized maintenance and janitorial staff.
  • Conduct meetings, toolbox talks, and workflow management using ERP systems.
  • Participate in safety meetings and develop operational procedures.

Procurement & Budgeting (15%)

  • Source goods and services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Oversee budgets, warranty enforcement, and capital expenditure planning.

Reporting (5%)

  • Provide updates on maintenance activities, compliance, and project status.

WHAT YOU BRING

Knowledge :

  • A degree in engineering or trade certification is preferred (Engineer-in-Training welcomed).
  • 2+ years of experience (co-op placements considered)
  • Thorough knowledge of reliability and maintenance best practices of port terminal business, including IT-based enterprise asset management systems “EAM”.
  • Heavy industry background is preferred
  • Unionized work environment experience is an asset.

  • Office and on-site environments, requiring attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Emergency response readiness outside of regular hours.
