SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Supervisor, Exploration.

About Your New Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Exploration-Canada, the Supervisor, Exploration will be the chief authority on geology and geology workforce in SSR’s exploration and production business. You will bring your real passion for geology and extensive breadth of mineral systems, alteration zoning, geological models to contribute ideas and make valuable contributions to active programs. You will help the Exploration teams and programs, definition, and development of new gold resources across exploration tenements; advances the understanding of mine, near-mine and regional geology as a key part of the process essential to new gold discovery, effective development of gold resources, and mining of gold reserves; drives best practice safety and environmental behaviors across all areas of accountability and responsibility; and performs other duties as assigned. You will ensure that all exploration work is undertaken and completed in compliance with international reporting codes such as JORC, and NI 43-101.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the geological controls on mineralization across mine tenements to be able to identify opportunities for new discoveries.

  • Improve the accuracy of the resource estimation process.

  • Supervise the design and implementation of exploration programs.

  • Maintain SSR’s tenements, JV’s and earn-ins in good standing.

  • Advance resource development projects through to feasibility stage where reserve potential exists.

  • Supervise the preparation and implementation of proposals, cost estimates and capital expenditure requests to resource development drilling programs.

  • Provide input into the Life of Mine Plan (LOM), desktop and feasibility studies.

  • Drive constant improvement in the quality of SSR’s geological evaluations and the competency of Exploration geologists.

  • Advise on exploration strategies and sit on the exploration leadership team.

  • Lead and participate in QA/QC assurance reviews of geoscience work.

  • Network and connect with academic and industry contacts and keep informed of the best geological resources available in the market.

  • Ensure appropriate sample and assay quality control measures are in place.

  • Ensure immediate action is taken to investigate, correct and document any problems arising from sampling, assaying or database issues.

  • Monitor the performance of all assays generated by exploration groups sampling relative to internal QAQC controls.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate both oral and written.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices, policies and procedures.

  • Capacity to coordinate, direct and evaluate team members.

  • Ability to drive for results through planning, alignment and execution.

  • Optimal decisions through accountability, judgement, and problem solving.

  • Skill to build working relationships through respect and integrity open communication and teamwork.

  • Travel extensively and internationally when required.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

  • Knowledge of software: Leapfrog, ArcGIS are an asset.

Your Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology and/or Geological Engineering. M.Sc. in economic geology is considered an asset

  • Minimum 5-10 years relevant experience in mineral exploration.

About Our Working Conditions:

This position has a varied schedule. During active drilling and field programs, a 2x2 rotation based out of the Seabee mine site or our remote exploration camps which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge. During off seasons, a Monday to Friday schedule is in effect.
