Position Overview
The Rotary Wing (RW) Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering Supervisor will oversee the technical activities and resources within the Aircraft Engineering department to ensure aircraft airworthiness and compliance with all customer and company requirements. This position reports to the IMP Group Ltd. – Aerospace and Defence location near Halifax International Airport.
What You Will Do
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to the RW Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering staff.
- Serve as the main contact for engineering support to rotary wing production programs, coordinating resources with ASE and Specialty Engineering sections.
- Coordinate with production management and staff to align engineering activities with aircraft schedules.
- Monitor projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of engineering tasks.
- Assist in workload and manpower planning for the Aircraft Engineering Department.
- Provide engineering support and advice to other departments as needed.
- Support HR functions related to staffing, training, and performance evaluations.
- Engage with customers, senior management, and other departments to ensure airworthiness, cost efficiency, and contractual compliance.
- Represent the company at technical meetings and symposia with OEMs and outside agencies.
- Identify potential revenue opportunities leveraging departmental skills and resources.
- Review and approve engineering designs, documentation, and proposals as necessary.
What You Will Bring
- B.Eng., B.Sc. (Eng), or equivalent education and experience.
- Professional Engineer status or eligibility for ENS membership.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in aircraft structures and mechanical systems engineering.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, and analytical tools.
- Familiarity with customer procedures is preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and delegation skills.
- Proven project management abilities.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies, including compliance with federal legislation.
- Participation in continuous improvement and lean activities.
- Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
