The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Supervisor, Operations & Maintenance to lead our Electronic Security and Lockshop teams. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge in electronic access systems and a proven track record of team leadership in a complex institutional environment.

Approximately 75% of this role will focus on leadership, team supervision, and operational oversight, while 25% will involve hands-on technical work, troubleshooting essential electronic security infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a safe and secure campus while developing a high-performing, collaborative team.


The Role
  • Provide daily leadership and supervision for a small, skilled technical team.
  • Oversee team performance, manage resources, and address conflicts as needed.
  • Build a strong, inclusive, and collaborative team culture through coaching and engagement.
  • Manage vendor contracts and performance in alignment with SAIT Procurement and institutional standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the SAIT Security team to develop, update, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to physical and electronic security systems.
  • Ensure quality and compliance in electronic security and lockshop operations, including preventive maintenance and documentation.
  • Lead service delivery improvements, contribute to cross-functional committees, and represent Facilities Management in key forums.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance of electronic security systems such as access control, CCTV, intrusion alarms, and locking mechanisms.
  • Coordinate updates, subtrade activities, and system installations as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or degree in electronic security, IT, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronic security or physical security operations within a large institution.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a security-related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Genetec, SimpleK, GFMS, key management, and electronic access systems.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.
  • One or more of the following certifications: Locksmith license, Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP).
  • Familiarity with safety codes, security compliance, and audit practices.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced understanding of Corbin and Abloy key systems.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized setting.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS).
  • Expertise in various locking mechanisms and electronic security systems, including Code Blue, CCTV, and access control.

Salary range: 90,000 - 100,000 CAD

Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
