Supervisor - Dementia Respite Care Program

Full Time | 35 hours per week | Monday to Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

We are thrilled to announce the launch of ourDementia Respite Care Program, designed to provide temporary relief for family/caregivers while ensuring that their loved ones receive high-quality, compassionate care during their stay. As part of this innovative new initiative, we are looking for a passionate and experiencedSupervisor - Dementia Respite Care Programto lead and oversee the daily operations of this essential service. This program will provide temporary care and support for individuals with physical or cognitive challenges, allowing caregivers a well-deserved break, while ensuring high-quality, compassionate care in a safe and supportive environment.

Reporting to Client Services Manager – Assisted Living, you will play a key role in managing and supervising a team of Personal Support Workers (PSWs) who will provide respite care. You will ensure that clients receive personalized, dignified care, and that the program runs smoothly and efficiently. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new program from the ground up and make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and their families.

This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week, 8:30am - 4:30pm - Monday to Friday with occasional work outside of business hours and rotational on call duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site management of Dementia Respite Care Program
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Dementia Respite Care program through team building, excellent customer service, continuous quality improvement, client safety and risk management.
  • Ensure Dementia Respite Care program activities comply with CHATS Health and Safety policies and OHSA and WSIA, AODA legislations.

Qualifications:

  • Social Service Worker/Gerontology diploma combined with five (5) years’ experience with seniors in a community setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Excellent skills in risk, crisis, and conflict management along with strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease, including effective caregiving strategies to provide compassionate care and support.
  • Exceptional communication, telephone, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated teaching, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and data base applications (GOLDCARE).
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, multi-task and achieve successful results.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required for this position.
  • Current CPR/first aid certification
  • Scheduling experience an asset.
  • Nursing background is an asset.
  • Fluency in both official languages (English & French) and other language(s), an asset.
