The typical salary range for this position is $54 480.00 - $74 910.00 annually. The base salary offered will be determined based on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity considerations.

Summary

The role of the Data Supervisor is to support Distribution Centre Operations by working collaboratively with leaders and unionized employees in a fast-paced environment at floor level. The Distribution Centre temperature is 0°C. This is accomplished by prioritizing and executing confirmed tasks, coordinating work activities, and supporting employees in the completion of assigned tasks. The Data Supervisor is responsible for collecting and processing data in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to maintain data accuracy and system integrity. Data Supervisors model Metro's pillars of Customer Focus, Best Team, Execution, and Efficiency while providing flexible, reliable, and responsive service to our stores. This is an entry-level supervisory role.

Specific Responsibitilies

• Inventory control and data integrity; ensure accuracy within the WMS to support product movement and shipment.
• Shipping, ensuring work is released for unionized team members (Selectors).
• Master Data, ensuring master data is accurate to support automation processes.
• Reconcile inventory, BOL and receiving discrepancies.
• Receiving (Traffic Office), coordinating the unloading of trucks at the Distribution Centre.
• Work directly with and provide oversight to unionized employees (Checkers).
• Conduct daily cycle counts, picks, and reserve location reviews within the warehouse.
• Support unionized employees with Selecting, Receiving, and Loading activities.
• Manage weekly Distro items.
• Excell reporting.

Quality and Accuracy

• This work activity requires data entry and maintenance of various paper-based records and includes data entry in the WMS to create and complete work units.
• Investigate, identify, and reconcile inventory discrepancies to ensure physical and system accuracy.
• Audit processes and paper flow errors to identify inconsistencies that may affect inventory accuracy.
• Supervise and coordinate the appropriate processing of purchase orders, receiving reports, outbound invoices, and inventory reports.
• Train, support, and supervise employees within the scope of receiving, shipping, inventory control, and order release activities to ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures, policies, and deadlines.
• Complete data entry activities within pre-formatted information fields and/or through confirmation prompts to continue or complete tasks. This process assigns work units to forklifts, selectors, loaders, or receivers depending on operational requirements at the time of assignment.

Team Engagement

• Establish and maintain a high level of personal involvement through effective engagement, accessibility, and visibility for distribution employees.
• Ensure policies and practices related to employee relations are followed and promote initiatives that support a positive and engaged workplace.
• Lead, coach, and support a team by applying effective interpersonal skills, leading by example, setting objectives, and clarifying responsibilities to provide clear direction and support success.
• Interact with unionized personnel regarding work units, communications, and issue resolution. Address issues arising from work units by making independent frontline decisions, providing support, and helping maintain the integrity and successful completion of assigned tasks.

Efficiency

• Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities to the Manager to reduce waste and unnecessary handling within the Distribution Centre.
• Ensure all tasks and processes are completed with a strong focus on meeting the needs of internal customers (Unionized Staff, DC Leadership, HR, Safety) and external customers (Transportation, Replenishment, Stores, Customers).

Qualifications

• Possess 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience within a unionized manufacturing or distribution environment.
• College diploma and/or university degree. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and directly related experience may be considered. CITT and/or other logistics-related designation preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Warehouse Management Systems and Inventory Control Systems.
• Accurate Data Entry skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts or hours.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, analytical, and mathematical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
