Job summary

The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Claims Supervisor to lead the claims team and uphold high service standards across a hybrid work model in Canada. The role focuses on guiding staff, optimizing workflows, and delivering fair liability determinations and settlements.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of insurance adjusting experience, CIP/FCIP education, and strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive insurance adjusting experience.
  • College /University degree preferred.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional Designation and a desire to continue relevant industry education (FCIP, etc.).
  • Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills.
  • Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of policy wordings all lines of business, corporate guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to coach, guide, and positively motivate employees.
  • Excellent knowledge of automobile, habitational, farm and commercial policies.
  • Excellent knowledge of medical and legal terminology.
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry.
  • Exceptional advanced negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities of claims team
  • Provide guidance and leadership to staff and specialists
  • Manage service levels by organizing, distributing, monitoring work flow and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity as guided by corporate policies, procedures and business plans
  • Conduct or contribute to employee development, and employee performance management through coaching and following up on the development of their team’s technical competencies,
  • Conduct periodic review of claims files and coach team to strive for continuous improvement and development by setting and tracking individual and team performance objectives
  • Provide direction and leadership in areas such as: liability determination, investigation, policy interpretation, settlement negotiations and establishing reserves for claims
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment: We offer a hybrid work environment that offers flexibility to our employees in balancing in-office (2 days per week OR 15 hours per week in a Wawanesa office) and remote work.You may work from any of the following locations: Winnipeg, MB; Wawanesa, MB; Vancouver, BC; Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Lethbridge, AB; Toronto (North York), ON; Kitchener, ON; Ottawa, ON; Montreal, QC, Moncton, NB; Dartmouth; NS.

Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. In addition to salary, full-time and part-time permanent employees are eligible for an annual bonus plan, leave of absence top-up programs and provided with generous vacation time, personal days, premium free benefits and pension plan.

The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range:$85,000 - $115,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
