Job summary

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Services, Human Services, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in children's services or related human services environment.
  • Experience providing leadership, supervision, coaching, or operational coordination.

Position Title: Supervisor, Children's Services

Compensation: $33.08 - $36.14 hourly

Nature of Position:

Inclusion West Niagara is seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervisor, Children's Services to provide operational leadership and day-to-day oversight of Children's Services programs.

Reporting to the Manager, Children's Services, the Supervisor supports the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred services by coordinating staffing resources, coaching and supporting staff, monitoring service quality, and ensuring compliance with Agency policies, legislative requirements, licensing standards, and ministry expectations.

This position serves as a key link between frontline staff and management, providing leadership, guidance, problem solving, and operational support to promote positive outcomes for children, youth, families, and staff.

Responsibilities and Duties Include, but are not Limited to:

Service Delivery & Program Operations
  • Support the day-to-day operation of Children's Services programs to ensure quality, safety, and continuity of service delivery.
  • Monitor program activities and service delivery practices to ensure compliance with Agency policies, licensing standards, Ministry requirements, and legislative obligations.
  • Assess program requirements by monitoring participant needs, staffing resources, service trends, and operational requirements.
  • Identify operational concerns and implement solutions or escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and service enhancements.
  • Participate in the Agency's on-call rotation and respond to operational concerns as required.
  • Prepare reports, statistics, and operational information as required.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, coaching, and support to Children's Services staff.
  • Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and training activities.
  • Conduct Growth & Development Conversations and support staff development planning.
  • Support attendance management, performance improvement, corrective action processes, and workplace issue resolution in consultation with the Manager.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture.
  • Promote person-centred, strength-based, and inclusive service delivery practices.
Scheduling & Resource Management
  • Coordinate staffing resources and scheduling requirements to ensure service needs are met.
  • Monitor staffing pressures, vacancies, overtime utilization, and service coverage requirements.
  • Support the effective utilization of human, financial, and operational resources.
  • Provide recommendations regarding staffing needs, service improvements, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor expenditures within delegated authority and support responsible stewardship of Agency resources.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Monitor documentation, incident reporting, medication practices, and follow-up activities to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure services operate in accordance with CYFSA requirements, MCCSS standards, licensing requirements, Agency policies, and best practices.
  • Support licensing reviews, audits, inspections, investigations, and quality assurance activities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Community Partnerships
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, youth, families, schools, community partners, clinicians, and service providers.
  • Act as a key contact for day-to-day operational concerns and service coordination.
  • Participate in internal and external committees, meetings, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of Agency priorities, strategic initiatives, and organizational projects.
Required Skills, Education, and Knowledge:
  • Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Services, Human Services, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working within children's services, developmental services, or a related human services environment.
  • Previous experience providing leadership, supervision, coaching, mentoring, or operational coordination in developmental services, children's services, or similar environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting staff development and performance.
  • Knowledge of CYFSA, MCCSS requirements, quality assurance practices, and person-centred service delivery.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Police clearance with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), First Aid, and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence and insurable by the Agency's insurance company.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and travel between Agency locations.
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset.
