Job description

To provide initial and recurrent training and proactively promote a ‘safety first’ culture. As the Training Supervisor you will be responsible for delivering and coordinating training to fulfill our service standards for our Customer Airlines.

You will ensure that our ground handling is delivered safely, on time and through a process of following policy, supporting the field operation to introduce safe working procedures, training and proactive audit programs. This role is responsible for driving corporate training and the administration of the field station training programs for ramp and cargo operations through hands-on and verbal instruction.

Main Accountabilities Include :

  • Schedule, conduct initial and recurrent training.
  • Schedule and conduct Lead & Supervisor Aircraft Loading (SAL) Training.
  • Schedule and conduct GSE Training.
  • Promote a professional image at all times applying the Company Uniform Standards.
  • Ensure the safe and correct control of all resources on the Ramp.
  • Comply with all Airlines Ground Handling Regulations.
  • Support corporate compliance with applicable Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
  • Support employees and supervisors in undertaking the proactive and preventative measures necessary to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation as it applies to them.
  • Full compliance and implementation at all times of the following :
  • Airports Disruption Management Policy
  • POA (Person of Accountability) procedures
  • Report any breaches of statutory requirements or company best practice to management.
  • Maintain compliance with all government, customer and company policies / procedures.
  • Must be able to travel to other Stations when required.
  • Must be able to hold and maintain Airport security clearance.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Must have and maintain valid Class 5 Driver’s license and DA / AVOP and Transport Canada Security Clearance.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • Must be Bilingual (English and French).
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience on the following :

Ramp GSE

  • Baggage Tractor
  • Push Back Tractor – Conventional
  • Push Back Tractor – Towbarless (will be beneficial)
  • Lower Deck Loader
  • Main Deck Loader (will be beneficial)
  • High school diploma with at least two (2) years of experience in ramp operations in a Lead / Supervisor or Training capacity.
  • Must have previous experience as a Ramp lead and have a satisfactory safety / performance record.
  • Must be certified trainer for customer or be able to successfully complete and pass the training program.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of ground handling operations, aviation security, safety practices, legislation and customer supplier relationships.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances.
  • Ability to drive safety van and truck from one work site to another as needed.
  • A working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
  • Understanding of the wider airport operational environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70lbs when required.
  • Experience and understanding of the commercial issues in aviation.
  • Experience in Health and Safety Management.
