Job description

You are an experienced Superintendent in Alberta, specializing in telecommunication and utility construction. You oversee daily field operations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. As the Fibre to the Premise Superintendent, you also ensure safety and quality control, working directly with contractors to deliver telecom services.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection on the project.
  2. Apply Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) requirements to promote compliance with Ledcor HS&E standards, OH&S / OSHA Acts, regulations, and codes among all employees and subcontractors.
  3. Ensure projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, and design drawings, maintaining high-quality standards.
  4. Conduct site meetings with the City for road occupancy permits and with locators to ensure correct marking of areas.
  5. Manage material quantities and ensure the availability of proper equipment and trades as needed.
  6. Provide leadership and guidance to the field team.
  7. Supervise subcontractors to achieve project deliverables.

Qualifications:

  1. 2-5+ years of telecom or utility construction experience.
  2. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices relevant to construction.
  3. Understanding of current construction practices.
  4. Facilitation and mentoring skills; ability to motivate and resolve conflicts.
  5. Ability to motivate, coach, and build consensus with partners.
  6. Knowledge of construction equipment (e.g., directional drills, vac trucks, saws).
  7. Proven ability to promote safe work practices in high-pressure environments while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget.
  8. Strong understanding of construction documents, contracts, costs, and budgets.
  9. Effective communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders.
  10. Ability to anticipate and solve constructability issues.
  11. Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple priorities.
  12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
  13. Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  14. Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Working Conditions:

  1. 6-month position.
  2. Travel to various sites required.
  3. Outdoor work in diverse weather conditions.
