Job summary

Ledcor is seeking a seasoned Superintendent with 5+ years of field operations experience on large-scale commercial construction projects, with emphasis on tenant improvement and special projects. Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction experience in a Superintendent role or similar.
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Combination of work experience and industry-related trade certification/education.
• Expertise in safety and OH&S standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with senior management interaction.
• Strong knowledge of modern construction practices, documents, schedules and contracts.
• Experience coaching and developing team members.
• Ability to anticipate problems and provide leadership for innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff to ensure successful delivery of construction projects to completion.
• Promote site safety programs and subcontractor compliance with Ledcor standards and OH&S regulations.
• Ensure field staff have resources to complete projects per plans, specs and codes.
• Participate in pre-bid/preconstruction in site layout, logistics, scheduling and workforce planning for tenant improvement and special projects.
• Develop and own the Project Quality Program (PQP) and align with Ledcor’s Construction Operations Manual.
• Review schedules, track milestones, identify delays and lead solution development.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients/consultants in fast-paced environments.
• Uphold Ledcor’s core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability and success.
• Manage hourly employees including forepersons, carpenters and labour staff.

Job description

You are a seasoned Superintendent with 5+ years of field operations experience on multi-disciplinary, large-scale commercial construction projects, with a strong focus on tenant improvement and special projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the smooth, day-to-day management of field activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will develop and implement project plans and schedules, uphold company safety and quality programs, and direct the work of field staff, contractors, and trades.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee staff to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects to completion

• Promotes the overall site safety program including subcontractor compliance with Ledcor standards, the Health Safety and Environmental Plan (HSE Plan), and all applicable OH&S acts, regulations, and codes

• Ensures that field staff are equipped with the resources required to efficiently complete projects according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes

• Actively participates in the pre-bid and preconstruction process regarding site layout, logistics, scheduling, and workforce planning, with consideration for tenant improvement and special project requirements

• Ensures project execution aligns with Ledcor’s Construction Operations Manual and takes ownership of developing the Project Quality Program (PQP)

• Review and maintain schedule, ensure milestones are met, identify scheduling issues and delays and lead solution development across tenant improvement and special projects

• Maintains strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients/consultants in fast-paced project environments

• Supports and promotes Ledcor’s core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability and success

• Managing hourly employees as required, including forepersons, carpenters, and labour staff

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of construction experience in a Superintendent position or similar, with tenant improvement and/or special project experience

• Ability to successfully pass a drug and alcohol test

• Combination of work experience in a similar role and industry-related trade certification/education

• Expertise in safety within the organization and knowledge of OH&S and Environmental standards and regulations

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to work with senior management

• Strong technical knowledge of modern construction practices, documents, drawings, schedules, technologies, equipment, industry practices and contract negotiations

• Expertise in coaching and developing team members through constructive feedback and providing opportunities for development

• Ability to anticipate problems and challenges, while providing leadership in creating innovative solutions to achieve organizational objectives
