Job summary

Ledcor is seeking a skilled Heavy Civil Superintendent to lead the coordination and management of operations on ongoing heavy civil projects. You will oversee safe and efficient execution, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards, while supervising a team and collaborating with project managers, contractors and regulators.

Your leadership will help develop construction plans, mentor staff, reduce risks, and maintain project integrity to protect personnel and the public.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in heavy civil project management or construction operations.
• Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience in construction operations.
• In-depth knowledge of heavy civil construction processes, project execution, and safety regulations.
• Ability to read, interpret, and implement project plans and construction strategies.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities.
• Certification or equivalent in relevant construction management or safety practices is an asset.
• Proficiency in MS Office and an aptitude for learning various project management and reporting systems.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with other disciplines, subcontractors, and field crews.

• Implement Construction Management Plan and Safety Program.
• Oversee site operations, materials handling, and resource allocation.
• Supervise daily activities ensuring safety and compliance with OH&S regs.
• Create daily work schedules and allocate labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate tasks with other disciplines and teams.
• Perform daily site inspections and maintain logs.
• Close out corrective actions from inspections on time.
• Engage stakeholders and respond to inquiries and concerns.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Direct all project personnel on site and report to the Project Manager
• Implement the project’s Construction Management Plan and Safety Program
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of project plans, including the execution of site operations, materials handling, and resource allocation
• Supervise the day-to-day activities, ensuring staff perform their duties competently and safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and company policies
• Develop daily work schedules, assign required resources (labor, equipment, and subcontractors), and track progress
• Coordinate daily project tasks with other project disciplines and teams
• Conduct daily site inspections and complete detailed daily logs
• Ensure that corrective actions identified during inspections and patrols are completed on time
• Collaborate with stakeholders to respond to and follow up on requests, inquiries, and project-related concerns
