Job description

Large general contractor seeking experienced Superintendent to work on a large industrial project ($200m +) in Northern BC. Ideal candidate will have strong local experience across civil, infrastructure and buildings projects. The candidate will be required to work on site in North-West BC. Work hours: Given this is a project-based role, it will be on a rotation basis with a 14/7 rotation. Salary range is $160,000 - $220,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.

General Accountability:

The Superintendent will have a strong working knowledge of civil infrastructure projects.

Nature and Scope:
  • In accordance with the projected plan and schedule, the Superintendent manages all manpower, materials and equipment including the coordination of field construction staff. He/she provides a liaison between other departments to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications and to ensure that the construction schedule is maintained.
  • The Superintendent coordinates with field engineers to deal with work performance and productivity of sub-contractors to ensure all plans and budgets are achieved and all procedures and safety regulations are followed.
  • He/she is responsible for detailed direction of construction specifications, budgets and schedules and he/she will supervise and coordinate trade superintendents on larger projects.
  • All activities of the Superintendent will keep safety in mind and you are responsible for ensuring the safety of all workers.
  • The Superintendent will ensure that appropriate development is provided to all staff.
Accountability:
  • The Superintendent is accountable for the success of the construction effort. He/she is accountable for achieving the planned results with efficient use of resources and within the scheduled time frame. You will be accountable for providing timely and accurate reports to project management and meeting all safety requirements.
  • As a member of the project team, all actions and decisions of the Superintendent will directly impact the overall project results.
  • The Superintendent organizes and leads the activities of the construction effort through team leads and trade supervisors. He/she also provides specialized advice to internal colleagues with respect to construction processes.
  • The Superintendent has ongoing contact with peers, internal contacts, subordinates, senior managers and external clients to provide and receive information. You will work from a site office and deal with tight deadlines and occasionally work irregular hours.
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience and 1 to 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience in an industrial setting.
  • Compensation: $160k to $200k depending on relevant experience.
