Job summary

Centerra Gold Inc. is seeking a Superintendent, Contracts to join the Mount Milligan Mine team. This primarily work-from-home role requires regular travel to site.

You will lead contract management across mining, processing, maintenance, and capital projects, driving value, risk management, supplier performance, and governance. Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain, you will partner with operations to develop contracting strategies that enable safe, reliable, and cost‑effective mining

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • 8–10 years in procurement, sourcing, or contract management; 3–5 years in leadership.
  • Experience in mining or heavy industry is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and stakeholder management.
  • Proficient with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and contract tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute contracting strategies aligned with site objectives.
  • Lead end-to-end contract lifecycle: planning, bidding, evaluation, negotiation, award, administration, renewal, and closeout.
  • Ensure contracts deliver value while managing risks and governance.
  • Maintain contract templates and collaborate with Corporate and Legal resources.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies and lead major negotiations.
  • Ensure competitive bidding and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
  • Build relationships with leaders across Mining, Mill Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Finance, and HSE.
  • Support corporate supply chain initiatives and best practices.

About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi‑Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol‑free workplace and has adopted a zero‑tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent, Contracts to join our Mount Milligan Mine team. This is primarily a work‑from‑home position, with regular travel to site being required.

The Superintendent, Contracts is responsible for leading the Contract Management function at Mount Milligan Mine, ensuring the effective sourcing, negotiation, administration, and governance of contracts that support mining, processing, maintenance, capital projects, and site services.

The role provides strategic and operational leadership to the contracts team, driving value creation, commercial risk management, supplier performance, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain, the Superintendent, Contracts partners closely with operational departments to develop contracting strategies that support safe, reliable, and cost‑effective mining operations.

Key Responsibilities
Contract Strategy & Management
  • Develop and execute contracting strategies aligned with site operational and business objectives.
  • Lead the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including planning, bid event management, evaluation, negotiation, award, administration, renewal, and closeout.
  • Ensure contracts deliver optimal commercial value while managing operational, legal, and financial risks.
  • Establish appropriate contract models and commercial frameworks to support site requirements.
  • Monitor contract performance and identify opportunities for cost savings, value enhancement, and process improvements.
  • Manage the site's contract portfolio and maintain contract governance standards.
  • Maintain a suite of site contract templates and further collaborate with Corporate and Legal resources.
Procurement & Commercial Leadership
  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders to understand business needs and develop sourcing strategies.
  • Lead major commercial negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
  • Ensure competitive bidding processes are conducted in accordance with company policies and ethical standards.
  • Support strategic supplier relationship management initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supply chain and contract management practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong working relationships with leaders across Mining, Mill Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Technical Services, Finance, and HSE.
  • Act as the primary site advisor on contract management and commercial matters.
  • Facilitate alignment among stakeholders to ensure business requirements are effectively translated into contract strategies.
  • Support corporate supply chain initiatives and mining industry best practices.
  • Experience building and maintaining respectful, collaborative relationships with First Nations communities and stakeholders is considered an asset.
About You

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skillset and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Engineering, or a related discipline. Supply chain or procurement professional designation (SCMP, CPSM, MCIPS, or equivalent) is considered an asset.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or contract management. Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing contract or procurement professionals.
  • Experience in mining, heavy industrial, energy, or resource‑sector environments preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent commercial and business acumen.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and contract management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to governance and compliance.
