Job summary

EBC Inc. is seeking a Site Superintendent to lead heavy civil projects, including tunneling, highways and water-related works. You will oversee on-site teams, ensure contract compliance, and coordinate with engineers, subcontractors and clients to keep projects on time and within budget.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years in heavy civil supervision, strong leadership, and excellent communication in English. EBC offers a collaborative, safety-focused workplace with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of contract documents, subcontracts, drawings and specs.
  • Experience in planning site construction programs, quality control and safety procedures.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage on-site staff.

  • Knowledge of office administration procedures and basic finance concepts.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and build effective on-site relationships among staff.
  • Understand contract documents and assist in developing on-site procedures.
  • Plan and review site construction programs with QC, safety and staging plans.
  • Coordinate with field engineers, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Direct inspection activities and remedial actions as needed.
  • Maintain communications with subcontractors, consultants and clients.
  • Attend weekly meetings and provide daily progress reports.
  • Review time cards, payments, vouchers and invoices.
  • Maintain positive relations with all project stakeholders.

As a member of the Civil team, the site Superintendent will work under the guidance of the Site or General Superintendent to provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure successful execution of various heavy civil projects which may include tunneling, highways, infrastructure, earthworks, and hydroelectric projects.

As an Site Superintendent at EBC, you will support and/or be responsible for various project scopes or tasks including :

  • Providing leadership and to establish and maintain effective and harmonious relationships of the on-site staff;
  • Having thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract documents, each subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications and addenda, and to assist the Site / General Superintendent in the development of the on-site procedures;
  • Planning and reviewing the site construction program with the Site / General Superintendent including quality control procedures, safety and environmental procedures, staging plans, equipment and manpower;
  • Coordinating with, directing, and monitoring the Field Engineer/Coordinator inspection activities of the subcontractors, suppliers and own forces;
  • Coordinating with, and directing when necessary, the activities of the inspection agencies, and to effect remedial actions if required;
  • Establishing and retaining necessary communications between subcontractors, consultants and clients;
  • Attending weekly safety meetings and coordination meetingswith own forces, subcontractors, agencies and clients;
  • Providing daily reports of work done and labour and material employed to the Site / General Superintendent;
  • Reviewing and submitting for approval, all time cards, subcontractor’s monthly request for payment, material vouchers and invoices;
  • Maintaining good relations and communications with all involved in the project including public.
Requirements
  • Related work experience of 3-5 years in a construction supervision role, working on heavy civil construction projects;
  • Experience in earthworks and concrete structures a must;
  • Proven skills in management, negotiation, communication, and problem solving;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work;
  • Knowledge of office management systems and administrative procedures;
  • Basic math, accounting, and finance skills;
  • Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
