Job Description:

As a Superintendent you will:

  1. Participate in preconstruction services on all negotiated projects, including development of site logistics, project schedule and phasing, design and constructability review, and budget development.
  2. Be responsible for site staffing, quality control, sub-trade coordination, project scheduling, field cost control, and safety.
  3. Determine the method of construction, materials quantities, equipment, work schedule, and documentation of hours worked.
  4. Coordinate assigned work with different crafts, company departments, and subcontractors.
  5. Maintain relationships with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule.
  6. Monitor compliance with company and site safety programs and documents, and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  7. Take an active role in hiring, training, and monitoring field personnel.
  8. Assist with the preparation and facilitation of project meetings.
  9. Assist project managers with resolution of outstanding claim items and warranty issues.
  10. In conjunction with the project manager, manage the project budget, specifically related to production on self-performed work.
  11. Qualifications/Experience:

  • 5-10 years in construction, with expertise in executing mid/large-scale structural concrete work.
  • Experience in building concrete water-retaining structures is key.
  • Experience with Mechanical & Electrical installations is required.
  • Experience handling various concrete forming systems and temporary works/engineering applications.
  • Managing and coordinating field execution resources, teams of 100-150 tradespeople.
  • Access to an established group of field leaders and tradespeople, with a willingness to develop your team.
  • Understanding of the full lifecycle of water/wastewater treatment plant projects, including starting and finishing complete plants.
  • Willingness to be mobile and work on challenging projects across BC.
  • Knowledge of Earthwork, Concrete, Mechanical, and Electrical scopes, and ability to integrate planning.
  • Experience managing projects up to $25M as a lead Superintendent or independently.
  • Understanding of project scheduling and planning principles.
  • Awareness of current market conditions and challenges.
  • Solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Steady employment history, preferably with water-related projects.
  • Aim to build a mobile team capable of working anywhere in BC.
  • Dual ticket and/or Millwright background is an asset.

Compensation:

  • $105,000 - $137,500 per annum.
  • Salary commensurate with education and experience.

As a Civil Superintendent, you will plan, organize, and direct Graham Construction projects from inception to completion. From earthworks to foundations, roads, bridges, and complex concrete structures, you will lead your team to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery. You will manage, direct, and mentor field personnel, including junior Superintendents, to ensure your team is equipped to drive projects forward.
