Job summary

AFD Petroleum Ltd. in Canada is seeking a Class 1 driver for long-haul routes from Whitehorse to Edmonton and Whitehorse to Dawson, operating Super B or Tri Quad combinations.

You will ensure safe loading/unloading, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintain clear driver logs while delivering fuel and paperwork to clients.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License.
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience with 1 year in an off-road application preferred.
  • Willing to train the successful candidate.
  • Follow safe practices set in place by customers and AFD facilities.
  • Basic knowledge of apps on the phone and e-logs.
  • Submit Commercial Drivers Abstract within the last 30 days.
  • Road test and pre-employment requirements (criminal record check, drug test, fitness test, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe handling of loading and unloading fuel, fuel extraction, and tank demobilization.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
  • Wheel-to-wheel refueling of equipment from the fuel truck.
  • Follow all legislation, including hours of service, OH&S, and TDG.
  • Maneuver trucks and perform minor roadside repairs (lights, fittings, airlines).
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, and traffic violations.
  • Maintain load-related documentation (driver logs, bills of lading).
  • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and officials.
  • Deliver products and paperwork in a timely, courteous manner.
  • Inspect site tanks for damage or faulty equipment.
  • Complete paperwork at end of shift; scan and file as required.
  • Willingness to train and mentor others.

The driver will be driving a Super B or Tri Quad Combination

What you will do day-to-day:

  • Oversee the safe handling of loading and unloading fuel, fuel extraction, and tank demobilization, applying safe practices and complying with applicable acts and safety regulations.
  • Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
  • Wheel-to-wheel refueling of equipment from the fuel truck.
  • Following all legislation, including hours of service, occupational health and safety, and transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Maneuvering trucks into proper positions and handling minor roadside repairs (e.g., lights, fittings, and airlines).
  • Reporting vehicle defects, accidents, and traffic violations.
  • Ensuring load-related documentation is complete and accurate, including driver logs and bills of lading.
  • Communicating effectively with customers, co-workers, and officials.
  • Delivering products and paperwork in a timely, courteous manner.
  • Inspecting site tanks for damage or faulty equipment.
  • Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, greasing, and tire chain upkeep.
  • Completing necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Willingness to train and mentor others.
  • Complete and scan all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. This may include, but is not limited to, Driver daily logs, TDG documentation, including fuel lading forms (declining balance), FLHA bills of lading, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspections, hours of service, etc.

What you need to succeed:

  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License.
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience with 1 year being in an off-road application is preferred: willing to train the successful candidate.
  • Follow safe practices set in place by customers and AFD facilities.
  • Basic knowledge of apps on the phone and e-logs.
  • Ability to reset on the road if required.
  • Applicants are required to submit a Commercial Drivers Abstract within the last 30 days.

As part of the interview process, all candidates will undergo a road test. If an offer is extended, it will be contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including a criminal record check, drug test, road test, 50 lbs. fitness test, and employment reference verification.
