The City of Melville is seeking motivated and energetic students for the Summer Student position in the Parks and Recreation and Public Works departments. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in public service while working in a collaborative team environment. The position follows a compressed 4-day work week, allowing you to make the most of your summer. Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting with maintenance and beautification of parks, trails, and green spaces, including mowing, weeding, planting, and watering.
  2. Working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  3. Performing physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  4. Collaborating with team members and communicating effectively.

Requirements include being enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program or returning to school in the fall, possessing a strong work ethic, and having a valid driver’s license. Basic knowledge of landscaping, maintenance, and/or public works operations is an asset but not required.
