Job summary

The Moose Cree First Nation seeks motivated secondary students for six Summer Student Maintenance Worker positions. These roles focus on maintaining a clean environment and supporting daily operations within the Child and Family Well-being’s facilities in Moose Factory, Cochrane, and Timmins. Successful candidates will strengthen valuable skills in communication, cultural sensitivity, and teamwork. Duration is from June 24 to August 29, 2025, providing a great opportunity to gain work experience in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a secondary student enrolled for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and trauma-informed practices is required.
  • Basic computer skills and a valid driver's license (G1, G2 or G).

Summer Student Maintenance Worker (6 Positions)

Job Location: (3) Moose Factory, (2) Cochrane and (1) Timmins, ON

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Lead/Operations Manager, the purpose of this position is to seek motivated and compassionate Secondary Students to help our youth enhance or broaden their vision with their roles and responsibilities for the future. They will be working daily with a Maintenance Lead under the Operations Manager who will delegate daily tasks for completion for our students. The summer student will maintain a clean environment with the Child and Family Well-being’s infrastructures. The student will strengthen core competencies such as communication, cultural sensitivity, and documentation for completion with day-to-day check lists on our yards and infrastructure. The student will ensure that the vehicles, lawns, light cleaning and maintenance within the facilities are attended to daily. The students support will help alleviate workload pressures during the summer months, allowing staff to focus on complex or high-priority cases.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Secondary enrollment for 2025-2026 is required.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, privacy legislation and trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational and time management skills for balancing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to take initiative while also seeking guidance when needed.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse populations, including those facing barriers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to observe, reflect, and apply feedback for learning and growth.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and client needs with flexibility and sensitivity.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and case management systems)
  • Social Insurance Number is required.
  • G1, G2 or G Driver’s License required.
